Ways to Help you Implement your Social Good Campaign on Facebook

Picture_1

Facebook is a great social tool to begin with for starters.  We all know there is a lot of people already joined-in the network. I think its safe to call Facebook the largest social network audience. The good thing about is that people who are not even on Facebook seem to land on it because of certain businesses, events, and causes.  So if you’re interested in registering a charity, this information should help out a lot.

Developing and launching a campaign on Facebook may seem easy but it takes dedicated time and effort. It does not matter if you are an established organization or a small charity.  You want to take a step back and first ask what is it that you want to get out of Facebook, is it conversation? Donations? Or support? When you get those answers or your goals then join and see what the outcome brings. Below are a couple little steps to insure that you are ready to launch that cause!

@font-face { font-family: “?????? ??????”; }@font-face { font-family: “Cambria”; }p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: “Times New Roman”; }div.Section1 { page: Section1; }

*Interacting should be a must if you are in any type of business that is promoting through any social media. There is no need to even be on Facebook if you are not going to interact. You should be more than willing to put in time for comments and answering questions. Devote time to update the content on your page for your cause or campaign to have any success with it. The audience will want a part of what you are doing because they want to feel a part of the cause. So by you creating the community your fans will want to stick around. Try and ask your fans what pictures they would like to see or videos. It does not hurt to get feedback.  This also creates a dialogue and this bond around the cause in what your business is offering.

Causes is an app on Facebook where supporters and non-profits can setup for their campaigns. Non-profits can create a page and get donations directly to them and everyday users can set up a page that supports the non-profit already approved on Facebook. They have handy pages that can be more in depth with the conditions and how donations are handled. Of course there are required conditions with signing up. Please do some research on your end as well because a lot of people are not too familiar with “non-profits.

Please also remember that before you even begin to donate on any type of campaign on Facebook you want to make sure your money is going to the correct place. Make sure that root organization is registered 501 © (3) or if it appears on a registry website. www.causes.com is a good site to find more information on this. Facebook offers this platform to make it a little bit easier to reach people.

WHAT ???LIVINGSOCIAL??? HAS TO OFFER

WHAT “LIVINGSOCIAL” HAS TO OFFER…

Livingsocial

If you have not heard of this internationally social buying company named “LivingSocial”, it is worth the read.  Based out in Washington D.C.  This company is spreading like wildfire. They have amazing daily deals through out America, Canada, Europe, and Australia.  Facebook first introduced  this once known as “visual bookshelf” application on the sidelines of the website. It was the first and largest app that allowed users to organize and share with others their favorite books. Later on after that LivingSocial released the PickYourFive and poll apps that made them the top application developer on Facebook. Then in 2009 they lauched this daily deal business that has become the highest grossing venture up to date.

According to the “Wall Street Journal”  LivingSocial is a deal to the day website notable for being a key competitor.  Also According to the reports “Huffinton Post” says it received $175 million in financing from Amazon. The website is www.livingsocial.com once you go there you can sign up and receive daily discounts which range anywhere from 50-75% off.  It offers deals in 120 different locations with 10 million users getting their daily emails in December of 2010. Deals are also offered via Google Android platform and still has many promotions with Facebook. Many companies seen major business pick up since they have been posted on the LivingSocial website.

Since this company is deeper into the local ad market they will be offering a mobile feature that gives you deals to find within a half-mile radius. This is being tested out in Washington D.C. I have used this website and I must say it’s the “DEAL”. I purchased two movies tickets for $9.

TOP 5 BRANDS IN SOCIAL MEDIA

Social-media

Top Brands in Social Media have very successful companies backing them; they receive their ranks from statistics showing which companies have the most activity and build the most revenue. In the number one spot is eBay. The online auction and shopping website beat Apple (2nd), Google (3rd), Blackberry (4th) and Amazon in (5th) place.

The most unmistakable business of the five is ebay.com; it’s an Internet auction site that connects individual buyers and sellers. Many people sell used goods and brand new goods to buyers across the nation as well as worldwide. Since it’s initial launch in 1994, EBay has grown and matured as a company, the revenue increase on a yearly basis have hit record numbers over the past year. Gross merchandise volume increased 24% to $14.2 billion in the last quarter. If they continue to expand with their marketing connections such as Skype and Facebook, as well as Twitter having links connecting to eBay, this company has a very promising future and should be around for many years to come.

With the newest addictions such as the Ipad, Ipad 2 and Iphone4g to the apple empire, there’s no question why apple is ranked in the top 5 brand in social media. Since the beginning of the apple as a company they have been known as the leaders in the technology field, their first 2 stores opened in 2001 and since then there are 200 stores worldwide and the apple company has grown to be a multibillion-dollar company.

Googled

Google as well is a well-known company that has put in some years growing and maturing as well. Respected as one of the highest ranked search engines, Google has expanded its borders by branching off into having their server programs for phones (androids). We are all aware of Blackberry’s presence on the map. Known as the business phone, blackberries are ringing bells worldwide. BlackBerry is a powerful messaging phone with a large array of messaging features in a smartphone today, including auto-text, auto-correct, text prediction, support for many languages, keyboard shortcuts, text emoticons, push email, push Facebook, Twitter and Myspace notifications, push Ebay notifications, push instant messaging with BlackBerry Messenger, Google Talk, ICQ, Windows Live Messenger, AOL Instant Messanger and Yahoo Messenger. BlackBerry functions as a personal digital assistant with address book, calendar, memopad and task list capabilities. It also functions as a portable media player with support for music and video playback and camera and video capabilities, this is why blackberry is one of the leading cellular force to deal with, new releases and updates for the phone come often, there are great predictions for future years.

Amazon.com, a great site for the earth’s biggest selection of books, magazines, music, DVDs, videos, electronics, computers, software, apparel & accessories, shoes etc. Similar in style to ebay, except it is more of a link with regular consumers and businesses as ebay is a consumer to consumer and business website. All of these companies noted have put in time and effort to be where they are today and have become the top ranked companies and forces to reckon with. All have growing success, stay tuned for the future, as technology grows and the years progress there are only greater things to come.

How Well Is Social Media Fitting into the Marketing Mix?

This is an Article from eMarketer.

Budgets are rising, but integrating social media into overall strategies is still a challenge

Over the next several years, social media spending will become a bigger percentage of companies’ overall marketing budgets. Yet CMOs report there are still challenges when it comes to integrating social media into their overall business strategies.

The American Marketing Association and Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business surveyed more than 400 top marketers for the February 2011 CMO Survey. They reported that over the next 12 months, social media spending will jump to 9.8% of marketing budgets, up from the current level of 5.6%. In the next five years, that percentage will increase to 18.1%.

125159

Service companies are planning the biggest increases, as both B2B and B2C service companies have a higher percentage of their budgets set aside for social media than their product-focused counterparts. They also plan to have bigger percentages looking ahead both 12 months and five years.

This is a remarkable difference from the August 2010 CMO Survey, when service companies were decreasing spending and future projections of spending, while product companies were seeing increases. In this survey, the results are flipped, with service companies seeing increases and product companies seeing decreases.

125160

Social media is no longer brand new, and many product companies have been experimenting in the space for some time. The current challenge for companies is to figure out the balance of marketing that works for them, and that includes a focus on product development and traditional advertising. Service companies are also realizing they must be on the cutting edge to gain clients, which includes being savvy when it comes to social media.

Yet while these CMOs are setting aside more of their budgets for social media, they are still working on integrating this newer form of communication into overall business and marketing strategies.

CMOs are more confident in the integration of social media into marketing strategies, as 10.5% feel social media is very effectively integrated into those efforts. But when it comes to companies’ overall business strategies, 25% of CMO respondents said social media is not effectively integrated at all.

125161

As social media becomes a bigger budget line item, CMOs and their companies must face the challenge of integrating it into overall business and marketing strategies. Not only is it more cost-effective to incorporate social media into marketing and overall strategies, but it also makes marketing more effective overall.

WHICH SOCIAL NETWORK IS MOST EFFECTIVE?

WHICH SOCIAL NETWORK IS MOST EFFECTIVE FOR YOU?

Facebook-vs-twitter

From Myspace to Facebook to Twitter, our world revolves around social networks.  We see the frontline; messages, friend request and other user friendly things. What we don’t see is the revenue that these big companies are generating while we use their social networks. 2011 is a big year for most people, the world we live in today is a lot different than of previous years, communication isn’t just a phone call away anymore. For the most part we text, email, tweet, all of the above and while we’re doing all of this the companies are growing. Twitter is estimated to peak 150 million this year along with Facebook heading for 1.76 Billion this year, here’s the breakdown on it. Comparing twitter to Facebook, both are useful, both have a lot of users but to sit and evaluate which one is more productive, what would your answer be? According to the statistics Facebook generates more money, averaging $14 per comment and $8 per Facebook “like” twitter averages about $2 dollars either way. From a features standpoint both companies are useful and productive.

The differences between the two networks are significant and in some ways a direct comparison between the two is actually difficult to make. Twitter is simple and feels like Google did in 1998, while Facebook offers a portal-like interface somewhat resembling of Yahoo, While Myspace is a sinking ship, Facebook and Twitter are the most current and effective social networks. Facebook appeals to social people and is mostly used by individuals that like to stay connected with friends and make new acquaintances. Some people say since Myspace, Facebook etc came around they very seldom use emails or IM tools anymore in their online communications. Facebook users prefer using this social portal rather than having to log into AIM, Yahoo, Gmail etc for links. Instead, Facebook gives them a single alternative to all of these apps, giving one the ability to link and request friends from their other accounts with one login, very convenient. That explains the growth Facebook continues to experience and why the company reportedly invested $200 million in data center upgrades last year to keep up with the demand. Twitter on the other hand is a bit different. The usefulness of Twitter is not as obvious to some people as Facebook, although it may be very addictive once you get the hang of it. You get more immediate responses from friends and it seems to be a mixture between the worlds of email, instant messaging and blogging. Bloggers, online marketers, pastors, basically anyone with something to promote seem to find Twitter extremely valuable. When asked why they love Twitter, most say “I can ask a question and get an instant response”. Most want the ability to get feedback from others on the network, bouncing ideas off others with whom they would otherwise have no means of connecting.

Twitter Pros

  • Easy to navigate and update, link to and promote anything
  • Reach far beyond your inner circle of friends
  • One feed pools all users; anyone can follow anyone else unless blocked
  • Pure communication tool, rapid responsiveness
  • You don’t have to be logged in to get updates; you can just use an RSS reader
  • Very interactive, extensible messaging platform with open APIs
  • Many other applications being developed (Twitterific, Summize, Twhirl, etc.)
  • Potential SMS text messaging revenue from wireless networks (although Twitter states they are not currently getting any cut)
  • Potential future advertising and/or enterprise subscription-based revenue streams
  • With its “thin” overhead, Twitter is probably more scalable than Facebook, giving it a cost advantage

 Twitter Cons

  • Limited functionality; find people, send brief messages, direct replies
  • Limited to 140 characters per update
  • Not all people find it immediately useful
  • Over-emphasis on follower counts
  • Easily abused for spam and increasing the noise level
  • Relatively smaller installed user base
  • As yet no readily apparent monetization strategy

Facebook Pros

  • Application mashup; find people, make connections, email, instant messaging, image/video sharing, etc.
  • Most people can quickly grasp the value of connecting with friends, family and established contacts; some people report they use Facebook instead of email and IM
  • More emphasis on deep connections with others vs. who has the most connections
  • “True Friends” feature increases your transparency to selected connections; almost like having private and public profiles
  • Huge, rapidly growing installed user base
  • Inherit stickiness, third party applications, “gift giving” and personal data collection make Facebook a powerful advertising platform

Facebook Cons

  • More difficult to navigate and update
  • Requires investment of time to realize sustained benefit
  • Opt in model requires a user to allow others to connect
  • Less immediate responses; unless you stay logged on continually
  • Overhead of mashup and “thick” applications could limit scalability, bloat cost structure

So which one you use the most for eitherersonal or busines lifestyle?
